Are U ready to discover more of what makes you unequivocally you? When you understand your archetypal patterns, you can tap into your authentic power and transform your life beyond what you imagined possible. So what are we waiting for?

Urbanite
If the scent of suburbs, a jaunt to the country, or a few days in pristine nature is all it takes for your head to spin like a broken compass trying to locate a Starbucks, Urbanite is by nature U! But you don’t necessarily need an espresso to stay awake. It’s the “living for the city” and “being a part of it” that keeps your adrenaline pumping, creativity bubbling, and curiosity burning for celebrity sightings or anything that triggers a text that starts with “You won’t believe what I just saw!” Your archetypal families are Creative Rebel with strong doses of Intellectual curiosity. Start spreading the news!

Ugly Duckling
The story comes from the classic Hans Christian Andersen fairy tale of a homely little bird who begins life bullied by others (and herself) and then, to everyone’s surprise, grows to be a beauty. Is that U, cutie? So you never imagined you would one day be a swan? You are not alone. But more often than not, the Ugly Duckling ends up as the model who lives in the world of the Fashionista and beauty. Booty-licious Beyoncé was once picked on for being “chubby and ugly.” With her horrible skin and chubby body, a young Selma Hayek was laughed at for wanting to be an actress, which sent her into a deep depression. By nature beauty grows and then, also by nature, it appears to grow away. The knockout is the duckling who somehow knows and sees the beauty that is everywhere. Have you checked your mirror today?

Umpire
“Play ball!” From the diamond or the La-Z-Boy, by nature you call the shots, enforce the rules, and handle the disciplinary actions. As famous MLB umpire Ron Luciano said, “Any umpire who claims he has never missed a play is… well… an umpire.” Is that U? Then your archetypal families are Athlete and Advocate. You may also bring your skills to a “game” in your own home where a family “player” is in obvious need of a “time out.” The toughest thing to remember when making your judgment calls may be the words “When in doubt, pause.” Or a knuckleball may head your way.

Understudy
By nature U love to act and you resonate with the Creative/Performer and Intellectual. On Broadway or off, in the world of plays or musicals, the Understudy is behind the scenes memorizing every stage direction and line of the star just in case (and with not-so-secret hopes) the lead comes down with a fever or is carried off by aliens. Who doesn’t like a heartwarming story of the ingénue understudy who saves the day and may even steal the show? After all, in the theater as in life, the show must go on! And what better time in your life — and in our history — to learn and live the lines of your own script? The role that, as Carolyn Myss writes in her book, Archetypes: Who are You? “you always knew you were going to play.”

Discovering our archetypes takes us there. And to us all, I say, “Bravo!”

With grace and gratitude,
Cristina
