Every night we sleep, and every night we dream. What does it mean when we see, interact with, or become animals in our dreams? And how do our Archetypes play into those symbols? Andrew Yang breaks it down.

The Black Cat

Visionaries have the strongest intuition of the Archetypes circle – so when that intuition is blocked or comes into question, dark things can happen, and a Visionary is likely to dream of seeing a black cat which indicates a fear of using one’s own psychic abilities. Contrary to popular belief, the black cat does not mean bad luck, it means you need to believe in yourself and if the cat is biting or clawing, it means you MUST acknowledge what your intuition is trying to tell you. Visionaries cannot afford to ignore their problems.

The Squirrel

Tastemakers may have the best taste of the Archetypes, and with this great taste, comes great responsibility. If they are dreaming of a squirrel, it may mean they are hoarding something (very likely, clothes or makeup). These furry friends are telling us we are holding on to too much and need to let go – and this can apply beyond the closet – as Tastemakers never forget a look or a glance. It might be time to give up on dead end relationships or last season’s projects.

The Goldfish

Royals live the decadent lifestyle, and even though goldfish are small, they too are decadent – and to dream of one signifies wealth, success, and pleasant adventures (the literal the stuff of Royal dreams). But its not all fluff and bubbles. The dream goldfish also asks you to gaze deeper into important emotional matters and valuable insights.

The Dragon

Rebels are easily carried away, and probably the most likely to dream of dragons, which means they are being carried away by their passions. This may lead you into the hands of enemies and may mean you need to exercise some self-control! If you are dreaming of a dragon breathing fire, it means you are using anger to get your own way… and you should probably rein it in.

The Pony

Whether you are a musician, dancer, actor, or Performer in life, this archetype is best expressed when you’re at play. The stifled Performer may dream of a pony, which signifies the playful aspects of your life, representing untapped potential, unexplored, underdeveloped, or undisciplined power.

The Tortoise

Explorers like to move through the world with lightning speed, but in order to get to where they want, they must sometimes slow down. They may dream of tortoises as reminders of perseverance, determination, and longevity. The slow-moving animal may be telling you to take some chances in order to get ahead in life. There are opportunities available to you, but it is up to you to take that next step.

The Snake

Snakes and serpents are one of the most common dream animals, usually provoking fear in the sleeping person. But more often than not, snakes represent healing, transformation, transition, knowledge and wisdom. Creatives are constantly reinventing themselves, and during those times when they shed their skin, it makes sense they’ll be having serpentine dreams.

The Camel

Caregivers often give to the point of no return, and can spend their lives falling into the habit of forgetting their own needs. In times like these, they may dream of the camel, a warning that you are carrying too many responsibilities, burdens, and problems, and may need to be more conservative in what you give to others. You tend to hold on and cling to your emotions, and if you are petting the camel, it may mean you are letting some of those burdens and emotional baggage go.

The Antelope

Athletes always have achievement and competition on the mind. To see an antelope in your dream suggests that your lofty goals will only be achieved through a great expenditure of energy – and if you are dedicated, you will receive much success as a result of your dedication. But don’t start climbing yet, if the appearance of an antelope feels frightening or aggressive, it could be a warning to flee or retreat from a negative situation.

The Lizard

Advocates are out to change the world, but what happens when the changes aren’t going the Advocate’s way? Anxiety sets in! Lizards may appear in night reveries when there is an adversarial force in your life that is fighting your primal instincts and reactions to food, sex, and the environment – they may also represent dealing with an obstructive person who you view as cold-blooded, fearful, or thick-skinned. If the lizard appears surrounded by positive energy, it symbolizes emerging creativity, renewal, and revitalization – and suggests you, like many Advocates are, well grounded.

The Talking Horse

Horses can mean many things for many different people, but Intellectuals are more likely to dream of talking horses more than any others, and we’re not talking about Mr. Ed. To dream about a talking horse refers to higher knowledge, and you must strongly consider what the horse is saying. If the horse is black, the message may be coming from your subconscious.

The Dolphin

Dolphins may deserve their own Archetypes of Mystery article, so much has been written about their beautiful intelligence. Spirituals are likely to see dolphins in their dreams as they are seekers of spiritual guidance, intellect, and emotional trust. Usually a dream featuring dolphins is an inspirational one, encouraging you to utilize your mind to its fullest capacity and move upward in life– and may also mean that that you are establishing a connection between the unconscious and conscious parts of yourself.
