Caring for someone else can have a dark side. When Caregivers give too much they lose track of themselves in service to others.
Suddenly their time is not their own and they become the victims of a situation they can only do so much to control. They become overwhelmed, exhausted and ultimately resentful of the person they are caring for.
Then they begin to feel guilty for not being able to give fully without concern for their own welfare.
It’s possible for them to become so enslaved that they find themselves refusing any form of enjoyment or relaxation.
